What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a model of holistic healthcare which recognises the innate ability of the human body to maintain balance and heal itself. Factors such as stress, nutritional deficiencies, chemicals, toxins, and modern, busy lifestyles can all impair this natural ability, resulting in decreased health and a decreased resilience to disease. Naturopathy aims to support this natural healing ability by identifying and correcting all factors which may be contributing to disharmony in the body.
When the causes of decreased health are addressed, not only the symptoms, greater healing and long term wellness can be achieved. This encourages a preventative approach to healthcare. Naturopathy addresses all aspects of an individual’s health – the physical, emotional, mental, social and environmental. Identification of these contributing factors encourages greater understanding of health status, and empowers each individual to actively take control of their own health.
What to expect in an initial consultation
An initial Naturopathy consultation takes 45 minutes to 1 hour. During this time, Aimee will take a through health history. Although the focus of the discussion will be around your presenting concern, Aimee will review other body systems such that all factors contributing to your state of health are investigated and identified. To further help with this investigation, Aimee may use:
Diet analysis
Nail and tongue analysis
Pathology testing, such as blood testing
Salivary hormone testing
Urine analysis
Hair mineral analysis
An individualised support program is then tailored to your specific needs. This may include the use of herbal medicines, nutritional supplements, diet advice, and lifestyle modifications. Aimee uses the highest quality ‘Practitioner Only’ herbal medicines and nutritional supplements, which have been clinically trialled and researched. This ensures that you are receiving quality, safe and effective products to support optimal health.
